Description

We hope to see you at our Benefit as we recognize these four outstanding colleagues, each of whom are acclaimed in their own right for their ongoing dedication to the arts. We will celebrate the presentation of awards with live music, dinner, auction and raffle items.

John E. Coraor, Ph.D - Harry & Sandy Chapin Arts and Humanitarian Award
John started his career as a museum educator at Cornell University’s H.F. Johnson Museum of Art in 1977. He eventually moved into museum administration as Executive Director of the Tempe Arts Center (AZ) and subsequently of The Heckscher Museum of Art, before serving as Director of Cultural Affairs for the Town of Huntington. Along the way he has also held a variety of volunteer leadership positions, including Chairman of the Suffolk County Cultural Affairs Citizens Advisory Board, President of the Long Island North Shore Heritage Area, and Trustee of The Heckscher Museum of Art, where he volunteers as its Interim Executive Director while the Museum conducts a nationwide search for a new CEO.

Marc Courtade - Harry & Sandy Chapin Legacy Award
Marc Courtade is an experienced arts professional with over 30 years in the field, most recently as Executive Director of Huntington Arts Council (HAC). Prior to joining HAC, Marc was Business Manager at LIU Post/Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. He held administrative positions at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. and New York City Opera. Marc was a speaker for the New York Council for the Humanities for 8 years, lecturing on The Rodgers and Hammerstein Era: Reinventing Musical Theater and The Ethnic Musicals: Assimilation and Integration. He received a MS in Management and Urban Policy from the New School for Social Research, with a specialization in Nonprofit Management. He holds a BPS from Empire State College in Music, and a BA in English from SUNY Buffalo.

Beth Levinthal - Harry & Sandy Chapin Legacy Award
Beth E. Levinthal has a core commitment to the essential role of the arts to educate and engage individuals across cultures and the lifespan. Her award-winning professional career includes more than 35 years as an educator and as Executive Director of the Heckscher Museum of Art (2001-2006) and the Hofstra University Museum (2006-2017). Prizing service, Beth is a peer reviewer for AAM and IMLS and has served on boards including HAC, LIAA, MANY, and MAAM.

Dr. Kay Hutchins Sato - Harry & Sandy Chapin Legacy Award
Kay Hutchins Sato is a 30-year resident of Northport Village and a life-long educator/arts advocate. She earned her doctoral degree in 1985 and then taught English at the college level for several years, later moving into administration as an assistant provost. She now serves as Executive Director of a not-for-profit adult enrichment series which teaches the liberal arts at Nassau County Museum of Art. Kay is also immediate past-president of the Huntington Arts Council.
